Theater is a powerful way to teach people--it captivates, educates and motivates. One vivid scene is worth a thousand words. Here is another stragegy to reach your audience.

In these role-play workshops you will create scenes and stories about issues in your community that you face.  You will learn about the classic roles that people play where there is substance abuse and how to do a simple intervention. You will have the opportunity to give voice and action to your solutions to school / campus drinking/drug abuse, and learn how to start a prevention troupe with your group.

drama workshop curriculum guide

Gotta Act!, improbable players' how-to guide for using drama in prevention education

These lesson plans will guide group leaders in teaching their own interactive drama workshops---an accessible enrichment tool, based on the Players' method for developing plays through improvisation and sociodrama techniques. The curriculum guide will include 10 lessons that incorporate national learning standards for health and theater arts, designed to be used sequentially, or as pick-and-choose single classes. Available in 2009.
