Theater is a powerful way to teach and learn -- it captivates, educates and motivates: one vivid scene is worth a thousand words. This is another great strategy to reach your audience.

Create scenes and stories about issues in your community that you face.  Learn about the classic roles that people play where there is substance abuse and how to do a simple intervention. Give voice and action to your solutions to school / campus drinking/drug abuse. Get pointers for starting your own prevention troupe.

Improbable Players is a Creative Teaching Partner with the
Massachusetts Cultural Council. Click on this link for information about funding for a Players' residency at your school ($500-$5,000 grants) in 2011-2012.

Gotta Act!: using drama in addictions prevention. Lesson plans for teaching substance abuse prevention that incorporate national learning standards for health and theater arts will be published soon.
